1 week before Willa and I head off on our adventure.
For those of you who don't live in the Nambucca Valley, we have started to get some rain. Some heavy drops that last about a day, then things clear up. I have been watching the river levels quite closely. It is looking pretty good. We have a large tarp we will put up to get out of the rain at the end of each day. Although wet, it still isn't cold.
Food order is pretty much done. 2 or 3 items to round out a couple of meals and we will be ready to go. The photo is 11 days of food for us both. (A little bit of padding as well)
Breakfast - Porridge w/-fruit, then at the cache, changed to spaghetti and baked beans. (Willa hates porridge) We will be in the rafts at this point so the weight is not that big a deal.
Morning tea - Muesli bars
Lunch - Noodles or potatoes and peas
Afternoon tea - Cup of soup (cream of chicken or beef hotpot) or Miso. Pork crackle is bonus.
Dinner - Dehydrated meals, Backcountry hiking pre-made, Dehydrated fried rice with jerky, Couscous with tuna.
Plus a giant bag of Scroggan
The Drum is for the cache.
Packs are ready
Pack weights are confirmed.
Backpacks - Food, Rafts (and the rest of the rafting gear), clothes, sleep mats, sleeping bags, cooking gear, first aid, repair kits, etc.

The small black bag contains camera and camera gear, including tripod- 4kg
The cache drum weighs in at 5kg. That's those tins! Fortunately I am only carrying it 2.5km down the road (all down hill).
We are hoping to get the rafts inflated early in the outing. This will mean dragging agains the current but will take the load off the shoulders.
Going to try and grab some gaiters for the attempt on the Volcano Summit. The recent Death Adder interaction put a bit of a fright in me. (follow link to read about it. How it Happens)
Getting excited now.
Oh and the rain has stopped.
I can't believe the packs are so light. Did the weight include the camera gear?
😀
Just joining your journey. Impressed with how you're keeping weight down!! Looking exciting and the beginning of many stories to tell. aiters sound a good idea!! Go safe...
