Who is Henry Higgins?
Henry Higgins exists as the alter ego or nom de guerre to Adrian Herron.
Philosophy
We see our surrounding environment as an undulating landscape of opportunities.
Like Marcia Langton, we too argue the concept of wilderness as it applies to the Australian environment and agree with her description of this country as ‘a cultural landscape’. Shaped by many millennia of human interaction that continues to this day.
The land needs to be lived, in order for it to exist. Like the songlines of old, we see our movement through country as a practice of caring, connecting to country, maintaining it’s existence.
Our explorations are our art. Our movements draw lines across the hills and plains. They follow creeks and rivers. While sometimes a route may be repeated the journey is always different as the spaces and faces of the bush flux over time.
How did we get here?
Adrian has spent his life exploring the Australian continent. Having visited the major tourist locations from the Bungle Bungles to Margaret River, Cactus Beach to Kakadu, Uluru to the Old Telegraph Track he craved to experience this wide land in its most natural state. Eventually he made his way to remote Aboriginal communities in northern Australia. Aside from the occasional long distance sojourn, Adrian's days are now spent working towards an intimate understanding of his local environment.
